The 15th ECSA-Canada Biennial Conference was attended by 138 scholars, researchers, and policymakers. It was one of the largest conferences organized by the association so far. See the Call for Papers for a description of the themes.
The 15th Biennial Conference had 30 thematic panels during 7 parallel session slots. In addition there were three plenary panel sessions on ‘Canada-EU Relations: CETA and Beyond’; ‘Current Issues Facing the European Union’; and on ‘Fifty years of Journal of European Integration’. Dr. Hussein Kassim (University of Warwick) gave a keynote lecture on ‘The Presidentialisation of Commission Leadership: Personalising Power and its Consequences for the EU’ during the conference dinner. The Journal of Common Market Studies co-sponsored the opening reception.
The conference was preceded by a workshop organized by ECSA-C’s Young Researchers Network (YRN), during which emerging scholars interacted with establish scholars. It included two sessions with graduate student presentations and two professional development sessions, namely one on academic publishing and one on career strategies for Europeanists. 29 scholars participated in the YRN workshop.
ECSA-C’s next biennial conference is planned for Spring 2028 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. More information will be provided on this website and on the ECSA-Canada electronic mailing list as it becomes available.
