Travel

Victoria, BC is situated on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, off the coast of British Columbia. Accessing Victoria is possible by air and by ferry.
By Air

Victoria International Airport (YYJ) – Main airport for commercial air travel to Victoria. This airport can be accessed by connecting flights from both Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
-
Note that downtown Victoria is about 30 minutes away from YYJ by car.
-
For ground transportation options, see here. Most out-of-town travellers opt for taking/sharing a taxi or rideshare.
Harbour Air – Local seaplane travel between downtown Vancouver (or YVR South Terminal) and downtown Victoria.
Kenmore Air – Local seaplane travel between Seattle, USA, and downtown Victoria.
-
Please note that air travel by seaplane is separate to regular commercial travel and is intended to serve as a rapid commute from Vancouver to Victoria. It could make sense for those who travel light.
By Ferry

BC Ferries is the most popular form of public transportation between Vancouver and Victoria. Unless you travel by air, you will be using BC Ferries if you travel from Vancouver to Victoria. Those who travel by car often make a ferry reservation. For foot passengers a reservation is typically not needed.

-
For Vancouver-Victoria travel book the Vancouver (Tsawwassen) – Victoria (Swartz Bay) route.
-
Note that the Vancouver (Tsawwassen) terminal is about 30min by car south of YVR airport while the Swartz Bay terminal (Victoria) is located approx. 30min by car north of downtown Victoria.
-
The Tsawwassen ferry terminal can be reached by Skytrain (get off at Bridgeport) and bus (#620 to Tsawwassen ferry terminal) or there is a private bus company, the BC Ferries Connector.
Clipper Ferries – Transportation between downtown Seattle and downtown Victoria.
-
This ferry only makes ones round trip per day, leaving Seattle at 08:00 and leaving Victoria at 17:00.
